(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Jan. 29. The number of Volunteer Service Abroad workers now overseas reached 100 today for the first time with the departure of Dr E. Clarke, of Auckland, for Malaysia. Dr Clarke, who is the 228th V.S.A. volunteer to enter the field since the first left in July, 1963, will work at the Gombak Hospital in Kuala Lumpur.

The hospital is staffed by volunteers from several countries, and Dr Clarke will join Miss Vivien Span- ■ ton, of Hamilton, who is alt ready there. The V.S.A. workers at r present overseas are in 12 countries, the largest nums ber, 23, being in Malaysia. > : Eighty-two are engaged I in education and 18 in ■ agricultural and community development
