‘Angels’ In U.S.
A Korean children’s folk dance group, The Little Angels, has been delighting audiences in the United States from San Francisco to Washington since its tour began in November. The 40 young dancers, aged from seven to 14, are sponsored by the Korean Cultural and Freedom Foundation.
The troupe is directed by Miss Soon-shim Shin, a ballerina, choreographer and graduate of Ewha Women’s University. She has trained the children since the group was, formed in 1962. In New York the children danced at Lincoln Centre, where their repertoire included the drum, court and sword dances, and a variety of other folk dances, to the accompaniment of Korean musical instruments. One of their performances in Washington, D.C., was given to injured war veterans. —U.S. Information Service.
