Mrs King Dominates Aust. Women’s Final

( N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) MELBOURNE. The Wimbledon champion, Mrs Billie Jean King, yesterday added the Australian women’s singles title to her list of successes when she easily downed her old rival, Mrs Margaret Court, 6-1,6-2, in the final.

Mrs Court, who is attempting a come-back, was dominated by Mrs King, who won the title in 40 minutes. The final was never really a match; Mrs King was at her aggressive best and Mrs Court was not far short of her nervous worst. The American jumped into Mrs Court’s opening service of the match, took it and did not look back. Her crackling forehand and backhand service returns continually sped straight at Mrs Court’s feet as she struggled to the net chasing in services which had little sting. W. Bowrey beat the Spanish Davis Cup player, D. J. Gisbert 7-5, 2-6, 9-7, 6-4, in the men’s singles championship.
