Godfrey Wins Wagga Open

(N.Z.P.A. -Reuter) SYDNEY. The New Zealand golfer. W. Godfrey, overcame several worrying putting lapses yesterday to win the 33000 Wagga Open with a 54-hole total of 197, 12 under par. Godfrey collected 3640 as first prize in the sponsored tournament, conducted by the Wagga City Golf Club. R. Vines of Queensland failed by only two strokes to peg back Godfrey’s overnight lead of four strokes. Vines, who played soundly, finished second on 199 with M. Roesink third on 202. After a record-shattering S 3 on Saturday and 65 on Sunday, Godfrey was content to play within himself for a one-under-par 69 yesterday.
