The value of the Bursary, $2OOO, made up as follows: $l5OO plus one half of actual travel costs up to a maximum of $5OO. Qualifications for applications: Each applicant shall be — (a) A graduate of a University in New Zealand in Architechture (Degree or i Diploma) or Civil Engineering with qualifications or experience in structural or services engineering or building and construction management. (b) Or a person with suitable experience in the construction industry. (c) Not more than 35 years of age. , Conditions: All applicants shall: (a) State in their application (inter alia) a proposed subject of study or research and how and where it is proposed to pursue this study or research. The subject must be specifically stated and the award will be made largely on the basis of the proposal. (b) Proceed overseas so as to commence study (1) where the selected institution is an academic one at the commencement of its next session following the award; (2) in other cases within three months of arrival overseas. (c) Spend at least six months at the Institution or on field work related to the research or study programme. (d) Undertake to return to New Zealand subsequent to the completion of the research programme, within two years of leaving New Zealand, and in the terms of the Trust, to remain in New Zealand for at least two years thereafter. (e) To submit a report of the research to the Trust within a period of 15 months from the commencement of the tenure of the bursary. The report shall be in a form suitable for inclusion in the Library of the School of Architecture or School of Engineering from which the author graduated or other appropriate library and be available for use by professional or industrial personnel. The Trust reserves the right to print or publish the report in any form as a book, paper, or article in a journal or newspaper. Applications: Each applicant shall apply by letter Setting out his qualifications and/or experience. The letter shall be supported by a responsible person confirming the suitability of the applicant or be accompanied by a report from a senior member of the staff of the University Department in which the applicant received his training, provided that a member of the. staff who is also a Trustee, shall not provide a report. The letter shall include a full description of the nature of the work he proposes to carry out and state the educational or other institutions or establishments in which it be proposed to work.
