A whole-time appointee could subsequently change to a part-time appointment by arrangement with the Board. The appointment will be of specialist status in terms of the Hospital Employment (Medical Officers) Regulations with a basic salary scale of $6OOO-$BlOO. The commencing rate will depend upon length of experience in pathology and advancement within the scale by progressive steps will be continuous, but a higher grading and increments beyond $BlOO will be subject to determination by a grading committee. An extensive new building programme includes a five-storey ward block of 150 beds and a Clinical Services Block with one floor devoted to new laboratories.
