COLLINGE TAKES 8 AUCKLAND WICKETS

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND. B. W. Sinclair, the New Zealand cricket captain, and R. O. Collinge, the New Zealand fast-medium bowler, showed that they were ready for the coming tests against the Indians by their performances for Wellington against Auckland on the second day of the Plunket Shield match at Eden Park yesterday.

Collinge took eight wickets for 64 in the Auckland first innings of 333 and Sinclair scored an excellent 80 in the Wellington first innings of 230 for nine wickets.

D. O. Neely, the Wellington captain, declared his side’s innings closed at that stumps score, so there is the prospect of an exciting finish tomorrow.

Collinge collected the last three of his victims, all bowled, when the Auckland first innings ended quietly during the first hour of play.

His figures in the mroning were nine overs, seven maidens, four runs and three wickets. None of the Auckland batsmen was happy against Collinge’s speed and the runs came so slowly that the last hour of the innings brought only 26. AUCKLAND First Innings J. T.
