MERGER TALKS
/ Councils To Meet Representatives of the Wairewa, Mount Herbert and Heathcote county councils and the Lyttelton Borough - Council will be asked to attend a meeting on amalgamation on February 15, the Akaroa County Council decided yesterday, A letter was received from the Mount Herbert . council agreeing to reopen discussions on amalgamation and asking that the Heathcote county and the Lyttelton borough be included in the discussions. It was also decided to ask the Wairewa council if the meetings could be held at the Wairewa County offices at 2 p.m. on February 15. The council also received a letter from the Local Government Commission telling it that it had no right of objection to the provisional scheme of amalgamation between the Halswell and Paparua counties.
