AUCKLAND AIRPORT
Congestion Expected (N.Z. Press association) AUCKLAND, Jan. 25. Increasing passenger traffic at Auckland’s international airport has prompted an investigation into building extensions to the overseas departure lounge. The move follows reports by airline representatives that congestion at the airport could become critical by the early 19705, before the permanent terminal is complete. Mr R. W. G. Emery, the airport manager, said today that the Auckland Regional Authority’s airport committee had approved the investigation in principle. His staff were already preparing costings and would draw up plans in the near future.
