WORLD TITLE

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON. H. Winstone, of Wales, w n the vacant world featherweight boxing title in London on Tuesday night when he beat M. Seki, of Japan. The referee stopped the fight in the ninth round because of a cut over Seki's right eye. Winstone, aged 28. who made three unsuccessful attempts to win the world crown from V. Saldivar (Mexico), had grazed Seki’s eye in the third round but no danger had threatened until the ninth round. Winstone looked surprised when the referee (Mr R. Dakin) ordered Seki back to his corner. After the fight, Seki announced that he would retire from boxing. The cable photograph shows Winstone ducking inside an attack by Seki, in the eighth round.
