Trading Active But Easy Tone Persists
Trading on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday was again active but the easier tone persisted. Falls in the New Zealand section outnumbered rises almost two to one. Price movements were moderate.
New Zealand Petroleum again provided the day’s highlight. These shares traded actively and finished at 201 c—a rise of 13c—in Wellington. A parcel of 1000 changed hands in Christchurch at 200 c before closing at 201 c. Tasman gained 10c to 630 c and the other timber firm, N.Z. Forest Products, rose 1c to 221 c. N.Z. Sea Products recovered 3c to 38c and Wai-
taki Farmers Freezing continued to firm, rising 5c to 145 c. In the overseas section, C.S.R. rose 15c to 460 e, and E.Z. Industries 13c to 355 c. Mt Isa gained 15c to 515 c. Henry Berry was marked down 10c to 115 c in a Wellington sale and John Burns lost 7c to 180 c. B.H.P. followed the Australian trend to sell 27c lower at 1648 c. B.H. South was 34c easier at 566 c.
