INSPECTORS AIDED
In its drive to have all radio and television receivers licensed, the Post Office is being helped by householders who themselves have been caught without licences. A spokesman in Christchurch for the Post Office said yesterday that all of Lyttelton, most of Christchurch and much of the country in Canterbury had been surveyed. Inspectors were now retracing their steps in search of persons who had
not answered the door or had been out during the first call. The assistance of “potters,” though not sought, had helped the inspectors to catch people at home. Those who cannot be< traced during the week will be visited at night or on Saturdays. Since November, when the Post Office began its search for unlicensed sets, 5696 new radio and 2441 television licences have been taken out, bringing in $48,821.
