Pacific Travel Conference
The sales manager of the Mount Cook and Southern Lakes Tourist Company (Mr E. G. Beckett), will attend his fifth successive Pacific Area Travel Association conference in Taipeh on February 8. Mr Beckett said that he expected to hear a bit more on President Johnson’s thoughts on travel in the Pacific area. Most of the Pacific area carriers felt that while some form of restrictions, perhaps in the form of a tax, might be imposed on Americans travelling overseas, it would be more lenient in the Pacific, than say for Europe or Africa. The over-all effect of this could be to stimulate traffic to New Zealand and Australia.
