Mr Allen To Attend Talks
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Jan. 15. The Minister of Works (Mr Allen) will lead a National Roads Board delegation to the third Pacific regional conference of the International Roads Federation in Sydney from January 28 to February 2. The delegation will include three members of the board, Messrs A. M. Linton, J. S. Thorn and J. H. Macky, Director of Reading, Ministry of Works. The board's secretary, Mr C. N. Johnson, will also attend the conference. Mr Allen will leave Wellington for Melbourne on January 17 and before the conference, will inspect several major construction projects in Australia.
R.S.A. Membership.—Membership of the Christchurch Returned Services’ Association stood at 7042 at the end of December. This was 293 fewer than at the same time in 1966. The acting president KMr J. Green told Monday evening’s meeting of the executive that this was not good. The secretary (Mr F. Barron) said that the principal reason for the decrease was the number of deaths in the year.
