At Fault
Price levels for adult sheep at Addington could hardly be described as strong, but a walk round Addington market often makes one wonder whether some vendors do all they can to enhance the sale prospects of their stock. One of the principal sheep, buyers at the market this' week pointed to the number of daggy sheep on offer, and bearing in mind the hygiene regulations which are in force at both freezing works and the city abattoirs, suggested there were good reasons why such sheep were to be avoided, or bought at a discount Over recent seasons, buyers not infrequently have had to ask the selling firms for an assurance that daggy lambs on which they were bidding, would be trimmed before dispatch to the killing centre. The recognised regular vendors of fat sheep and fat lambs are meticulous about the presentation of their sheep, but there are vendors who do themselves less than justice, and any loss lies entirely with them. This is an aspect which can be remedied by vendors themselves. Even if the financial benefit only equates the cost of cartage, it is worth while.
