Mrs Holt In Melbourne

Mrs Zara Holt, wife of the late Australian Prime Minister, bade farewell to friends and staff at the Lodge, the Prime Ministerial residence, before leaving Canberra today. Mrs Holt was accompanied by Dr Marcus Faunce, physician to the late Prime Minister on a flight to Melbourne. Dr Faunce administered sedatives to Mrs Holt a few minutes before she left the Lodge for the last time, 26 days after the disappearance of her husband off Portsea, Viet- ;ia.
The Minister for Air (Mr Peter Howson) accompanied the party on the flight. "rs Holt will stay in Melbourne before leaving from Sydney for London on Sun-
day to attend the memorial service for Mr Holt on January 18. A London message says Mrs Holt probably will sit in the Dean of Westminister's private pew during the service. Mrs Holt was likely to occupy the pew with the wife of the Australian High Commissioner in London (Lady
Downer) a spokesman for Westminister Abbey said. Mrs Bettina Gorton, wife of Australia’s new Prime Minister, made a radio broadcast to Indonesia today and spoke in fluent Indonesian. Mrs Gorton, who holds a degree in oriental languages, spoke for 10 minutes on a Radio Australia programme for Indonesian women. She told her audience that it was important for Australians and Indonesians to understand each other’s languages so that they could discuss problems “with clarity and exactness, without any fear of misunderstanding.”
