South Pacific H-Bomb Test

(IV.Z.P.A.-ltcutfr—CopvrtjM) PARIS, January 11. France's next nuclear test, possibly the explosion of her first hydrogen bomb, could take place as early as May, according to informed military sources in Paris. France’s first hydrogen bomb is due to be tested this year, though no date has yet been officially announced, but the sources say atmospheric conditions in the South Pacific test area would be suitable for nuclear trials from May onwards.

A special security force, code-named "Force Alpha” and comprising the aircraftcarrier Clemenceau and three escort vessels, has been designated to patrol the area.
