Lord, batting for North Shore, contributed greatly to her team’s first innings lead over Canterbury in the Hallyburton Johnstone women’s cricket series yesterday. Miss Lord hit 43 in 61 minutes, the fastest scoring of the day. Auckland led Otago on the first innings to be the other points scorer in the opening round. Auckland 237/6 dec. and 28/1 (J. Doull 28 not out) beat Otago 166 (L. Clough 66, L. Flett 40: E. White 4/47, J. Stevens 3/51) on the first innings. Canterbury 104 and 12S/5 (P. Quickenden 29, I. P. Wilson 26 not out, J. Stead 22) lost to North Shore 141/8 dec. (C. Oyler 35. M. Stewart 31. J. Lord 43; L. Olson 4/43) on the first innings.
