Trial Win To Clarke
I. Clarke was the winner of the Pioneer Motor Club’s recent standard road machine motorcycle trial. He lost only 56 points on his 650 c.c. Norton to narrowly beat T. Kirby (250 c.e. Yamaha) by two points. Sixteen riders completed the course, which went through Kaiapoj, Ranglora, Sefton. Balcairn, Amberley, and the Waipara River bed before returning through Amberley. Sefton, Balcairn, Stewarts Gully, and Brooklands to finish at the Pleasant Point Domain. Points were deducted on a similar basis to that used for car rallies.
Results, which have been confirmed, are: I. Clarke (650 c.c. Norton), 56 points lost, 1: T. Kirby (250 c.c. Yamaha). 58, 2; D. Upton (500 c.c. Velocette). 63, 3; D. McGinley (200 c.c. Triumph). <5, 4; N. Duncan (250 c.c. Suzuki), 68, 5; G. Small (350 c.c. 8.5. A.), 77, 6.
