Came Late, Set Record

(N.Z. Press Association) WANGANUI, Dec. 22. Colin Froggat sheared 472 sheep in nine hours today, breaking Godfrey Bowen’s New Zealand record of 464. Mr Froggat lost list during his attempt. He arrived six minutes late for work this morning and then decided to make up for it by attempting to break the record. He was shearing at a farm in Brunswick, five miles north of Wanganui, owned by Mr B. V. Piece. The sheep were Border Leicester-Romney cross. The clip for each sheep was about nine pounds. Mr Froggat, who is 24, has been shearing for 10 years. Today was the fifteenth day he had worked in succession.
