Heads ‘Must’ For 1970
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. C. E. Meads was a “must” for South Africa in 1970, the All Black coach, Mr F. R. Allen, said yesterday. “He gets better every year,” Mr Allen said. “He will still be the basis of the All Black scrum three years from now.” Mr Allen said that Meads was one of the chief factors' in the All Blacks triumphant tour. If Meads had played in Cardiff the team would have won every match. “There were times when everyone had had a late night, but Meads was out running at 6 o’clock the next morning,” said Mr Allen. “He put everything into his training and this set the fashion for everyone else.”
