Borrie, the national junior boys’ 220 yd and 440 yd freestyle title-holder, provided the highlights of official swimming trials held by the Otago centre. Both established Otago records and went close to the New Zealand marks. Miss Myers won the women's 220 yd freestyle in 2min 24.1 sec, I.3sec outside Miss S. Nicholson’s national record, and Borrie clocked 2min 9.7 sec for the boys’ 220 yd freestyle, 2.6 sec outside R. Walker’s record.
