Obituary MR A. S. LOGAN

The death has occurred suddenly at Richmond, Nelson of Mr Archibald Stuart Logan, a member of a family long connected with printing and publishing in New Zealand.

Mr Logan was the eldest son of the late Mr R. J. Logan, who owned newspapers at Waimate, Kaiapoi and Rangiora, and he continued the family association with these publications as a linotype operator, as owner-editor of the "Taihape Times,” and as an operator in New Plymouth, Milton and Christchurch. He was a well-known tramper and mountaineer and, as a member of the Canterbury Mountaineering Club, made numerous ascents in the Waimakariri headwaters. Mr Logan is survived by his second wife and two children, Mr Martin Logan (Christchurch) and Mrs Kathleen Leversedge (Suva, Fiji). A brother, Mr R. G. A. Logan, of Gisborne, is founder and managing-editor of the “Photo News” chain of provincial newsmagazines.
