Credo’s Win Deserved

Credo followed three successive placings with a deserved win in the Roi I’Or Stakes at Waimate. However, he looked rather fortunate to beat Waratah by a head. The race was marred by a mix-up at the start. Galena broke and ran out and in a few strides Bewitched lost her driver and Abbey Nelson, Leading Light, Misty Morn and Lord Paso lost all chance.

Lucky Chief made the pace, being joined on the turn by Credo, with Waratah improv ing, ahead of Morris Pal and Barrhill. Waratah was asked for an effort inside the furlong and he closed gradually on Credo, which lasted to win by a head. Morris Pal was a length and a half back third, with the same distance to Cadane, which came fast from well back after meeting trouble early. Thurberroyal, Lucky Chief. State Express and Mister Pike were close up next.
