LEAGUE WIN

Series To Australia (Special Crepdt. N.Z.PA.) SWINTON. Australia retained the Rugby League Ashes on Saturday by beating England 11-3, after leading 3-0 at halftime on a snow-covered field at Swinton. A crowd of only 13,515 saw N. Kelly (Australia) sent off in the final minutes. Another Australian, the fiveeighth, J. Gleeson, was taken off in the first half with a fractured jaw. The Kangaroos were on the defensive for most of the first half but a try by R. Coote was the only score.

In the second half the Kangaroos had the better of play. England would have been closer but for R. Millward missing two very easy goals.
