Southern Silver Picked For Thames
“The Press” Special Service AUCKLAND. Southern Silver could qualify for the Auckland Cup at Alexandra Park tonight- A victory in the President’s Handicap, the first leg of the T.A.B. double at the Thames Trotting Club’s meeting would give him a 2min llsec rating. The President’s Handicap has drawn a good field and there will be solid backing as well for Morris Scot and Tutta Tryax. Both have been racing well lately. Eastern Star may be the hardest to beat in the second leg, the E. O. Brownlee Memorial. After several disappointing showings he went a great race for fifth at his last appearance. General’s Choice and John Robin may provide his strongest opposition. Unless there is heavy rain today the track will' be fast. Selections: 6.10 p.m.—lntroductory Handicap: Reprieve, Eric* dale.
