Reinstatement Refused

(N.Z. Press Association) » WELLINGTON.

The application by a former All Black, G. D. M. Gilbert, to be reinstated, was refused by the New Zealand Rugby Union Council yesterday. It was agreed that as a home serviceman during the war, Mr Gilbert did not qualify under the amnesty granted to All Blacks who had played professional football.

A former New Zealand cricket representative, W. E. Merritt, was granted reinstatement in an administrative capacity.
