Pit Stops
To encourage tidier competition cars, an Ashburton man, Mr J. G. Chivers, will present a trophy to the best-prepared car competing in the Ashburton Car Club’s flying and standing quarter-mile event on the Longbeach Road on December 16. The trophy will be known as the Willowby Trophy, and the cars will be judged by Mr Chivers and two executive members of the club. # # #
There will be eight car races and two motor-cycle races at the' Lady Wigram Trophy Race meeting on January 20. The first two races of the day will be preliminary heats for the main race, and will each be 11 laps. The Motor
Racing Club championship for sports-cars and singleseaters not in the main event will preceed a sportscar race, and two group five saloon races. There will then be a motor-cycle race, the main race, a saloon-race final, and the second motorcycle race. * * *
The Austrian driver Jochen Rindt is expected to drive a Brabham in the Australian Tasman Championship races, but is unlikely to race in New Zealand.
