Debutantes’ Trip To New Zealand

(Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.)

LONDON, December 6.

Two of London’s top debutantes will visit New Zealand next year in the middle of a round-the-world trip given to them by their fathers for their twenty-first birthdays.

Liz Salm, aged 21, and Carolyn Miller, aged 22, who start the tour on January 2, hope to be in New Zealand in May or June. Miss Salm, who was until recently a member of the British B ski-ing team, expects to spend most of her time on the slopes at Ruapehu. “I’ve heard it’s the best place in the world to ski,” she said, "and I’m also lucky enough to know the New Zealand ski-ing team.’

The girls will also be visiting Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch. Their baggage will consist of one large suitcase each. “The travel people are sorting us out a world flight so we can chop and change it if necessary. The only other thing we’ve done is to take a course in judo—so we can throw any undesirables over our shoulders,” said Miss Salm.
