Westland Park Enlarged

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 7. More than 8000 acres of State Forest on the southern side of the Cqpland Range, in the Southern Alps, has been added to the Westland National Park. This was announced today by the Minister of Lands and Forests (Mr Maclntyre) when he opened a new visitors’ centre for the Westland National Park Board at the Fox Glacier township. Two blocks of land—Bo72 acres of Karangarua State Forest and 523 acres of scenic reserve and Crown land—have been added to the park, which now covers 218,852 acres.
