OVERSEAS TRADING

SYDNEY Mining stocks and leading Industrials led a slightly downward trend on the exchange yesterday. Barrier stocks were a shade easier. Broken Hill South fell 30c to 520 c. Mount Isa shed 10c to 496 c, North Broken Hill took off 15c to 695 c, and New Broken Hill closed 10c easier at 870 c.

Nickel stocks were uneven with Western Mining gaining 50c to 2950 c.

In the industrials, B.H.P. took off 25c to 1545 c. Earlier in the day the company announced that the Crayfish Al well had been advanced to 10,190 feet and was drilling ahead. The company further reported that the Kingfish Bl well in the Gippsland Shelf basin has set a 133 in casing at 2457 feet and was preparing to drill ahead. Sales.—B.H. MELBOURNE The market opened strongly both for industrials and minings, then closed on an easing trend.

B.H.P. moved up to 1585 c early and dropped sharply in busy trade to finish 25c lower at 1545 c. Other leaders followed the same pattern. In minings, Consolidated Gold Fields reached a peak of 730 c and reacted sharply in the afternoon to close 10c lower at 680 c. Hampton Areas ranged from 750 c to 680 c, a fall of 80c on the day.
