RANSOM DEMAND
Deadline Near (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) PARIS, December 7. The parents of the seven-year-old Emmanuel Malliart ha dstil lheard nothing more from the kidnappers of their son today as the deadline approached for payment of a 20,000-franc ransom demand. Police continued to hunt down clues and hold the bearded 33-year-old JeanClaude Mansion, who was arrested after telephoning the boy’s father about the kidnapping. He told police he was offering his services as a private detective. -
Emmanuel, a fair-haired, blue eyed boy who suffer from asthma, vanished from a Versailles street on his way home from school at lunch time on Monday. His father, Jacques Malliart, received a ransom note through the letter box at his home the same day instructing him to bring 20,000 francs to a quiet square in Versailles during the next four evenings. Tonight is the last evening.
