A woman doctor told a court at Frankfurt she did not intend to kill a three-year-old deformed child when she gave it, an injection four years ago.

Dr Mechthild Petersen, aged 47, and the child’s 36-year-old mother, Helga Siderow, are on trial here charged with manslaughter of the child, who had hands and feet but no limbs. ? The indictment states that Dr Petersen gave the child a lethal injection at the instigation of Mrs Siderow, who wanted to protect it from an unhappy life.
