Burglaries Reported

Five railway waggons on the siding of Daily Freight, Ltd, in Moorhouse Avenue, were broken into this weekend. Five cartons of gin valued at $l5O were stolen but they have since been recovered. The premises of Sandblasters, Ltd, Sawyers Arms Road, were broken into on Saturday and property valued at $30.70 was stolen. A number of baches in Rockinghorse Road were broken into late last week. Some were damaged. Details of losses are not yet established. Cigarettes and confectionery valued at $37.22 were stolen from the Kinloch Cake Kitchen in Waltham Road on Friday night.

A Russian radio operator from the Soviet ship Pelimida, Mr Gennady Starcev, aged 30, left Wellington on Saturday by air for home. He contracted gangrene just before the ship reached Wellington and was flown home i by‘the Soviet Legation.
