PIER RESTAURANT.—The Northland Harbour Board has announced this 350,000-dollar jetty-and-pier project for Paihia as part of a concentrated drive for tourism in the Bay of Islands. The project will include a restaurant, shops, offices, public concourse, and boating facilities. Maori carvings, panels, matting, and motifs will be incorporated in the scheme to capture the atmosphere of New Zealand’s South Pacific, bi-racial heritage. Construction work is scheduled to begin in 1970.
