RACING Good Day Predicted For Local Stables
“The Press” Special Service PALMERSTON NTH. Local stables should continue their run of success at the Woodville Jockey Club’s meeting today. They are strongly represented in both legs of the main double and Woodville trainer, E. Rohipa, has a particularly strong combination in Country Girl and Royal Theme. On the first day of the meeting Woodville stables won four of the nine races, but success eluded Ropiha. Last Saturday he saddled Country Girl for an unlucky third in the Bolton Handicap. Country Girl had a rough run, but came through her race well. She was ridden for the first time by the apprentice, J. F. Harris. H. N. Rauhihi will ride her this time.
Country Girl is one of the favourites for the Gothard Handicap, the first leg of the T.A.B. double.
Archimedes could be the hardest to beat in the second leg, the Railway Handicap. He
was a runaway winner at Feilding last start. Selections:— 11.15 a.m—Pawatawa Highweight: Heflu, Rahpete, Colden Bay. 11.50 a.m.—First Novice Stakes: Tipperary Cold.
