FOREST PRODUCTS LIMITED THE POSITION: With the expansion of our market research activities, a position has been created for a research officer to assume responsibilities for market research on our pulp and paper products. The appointee will work in association with our buildings and packaging research officer and together these officers will be responsible for initiating research programmes on all company products. The successful applicant will be expected to become familiar with the markets in which we operate and to be able to guide marketing management in the development of short and long term plans. Duties will include investigating the formulation of sales, forecasting models and to assist with this work access will be given to the Company’s 1130 and 360/30 IBM Computers for analytical work. The appointee will be expected to maintain close liaison with the production and sales staff, to ensure that marketing plans are practicable. QUALIFICATIONS: A young man 22-30 is desired for this position and he must have a training in economics to Stage 3 level, having taken Econometrics Option. Some practical experience in the application of econometric techniques is desirable but not essential. NEW ZEALAND ANTARCTIC RESEARCH PROGRAMME LEADER DEPARTMENT OF SCIENTIFIC AND INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH, SCOTT BASE 1968/69. THE LEADER IS the senior New Zealand officer in Antarctica and is responsible for the implementation of the New Zealand Antarctic Research Programme. As he will have overall control of New Zealand field and base activities, leadership qualities and organising ability are essential. Experience in any of the following fields is desirable but not essential. Ice and snow techniques; search and rescue operations; radio communications; geophysical or biological sciences; mechanical, engineering or building services; surveying, mapping and aerial reconnaissances. A salary of $4050 per annum with an Antarctic allowance of $lOOO per annum for a married man or $550 per annum for a single man will be paid. Appointment is for approximately eighteen months, of which twelve will be spent in Antarctica. Special clothing, food and accommodation is provided free of charge in Antarctica.
