EDUCATION FUND
Roman Catholic Formation A fund which will assist with the general promotion of the church in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Christchurch and at the same time pay interest rates comparable with other financial concerns, has been formed by the diocese. The Christchurch Diocese is the fourth diocese in New Zealand to establish a fund of this kindDetails of the fund, which will be called the Christchurch Diocese Catholic Education Fund, were announced by the Roman Catholic Bishop of Christchurch (the Most Rev. B. P. Ashby) in a pastoral letter which was read at Masses throughout the diocese on Sunday.
Bishop Ashby said that the fund would be for capital expenditure only. Parish contributions would take care of the daily maintenance of each parish and items such as teachers’ salaries, upkeep of buildings and repayment of loans.
