PASTORAL TRAINING
Planning Of Organisation Clergymen from the member churches of the National Council of Churches and the Roman Catholic Church will meet in Christchurch today to discuss forming an organisation in Christchurch for pastoral training of clergy. The Rev. D. G. Shaw, a Presbyterian hospital chaplain, who is organising the meeting said yesterday that although pastoral schools for clergy and for theological students had been held in the past they had not been frequent, and most clergymen felt the need for something more permanent.
Discussions at the meeting, which will be held in the Knox Church Hall, Bealey Avenue, would be informal and would centre mainly on what form the proposed organisation should take and what standards it would aim at, said Mr Shaw.
