County May Help On “Mona Vale”

If the Halswell County Council wished to make a contribution towards the cost of buying “Mona- Vale,” Paparua, in spite of the pending amalgamation of the two counties, would not oppose it, said the chairman of the Paparua County Council (Mr D. H. Warren) at a joint meeting of the two councils last evening. Cr P. Wynn-Williams (Halswell) raised the question. He said that Halswell had agreed to contribute if all other coun-

Halswell, as a county town under the merger, could contribute its own funds, said Cr E. C. Britnell (Paparua). Paparua should honour any f obligation of Halswell’s prior Ito amalgamation, even if 1 Paparua was dead against it, , said Cr H. W.
