VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT
Many players who have previously participated in world volleyball tournaments will be playing in New Zealand’s first national invitation tournament in Wellington this week-end. Entries have been received from 19 men’s and seven women’s teams including universities, training colleges, private clubs, ehurch and youth groups. The tournament is being organised by the National Council of the Young Men’s Christian Association of New Zealand. In addition to local people, many of the teams will field players from the Netherlands, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan and the Pacific islands. The standard of play is expected to be high. The tournament will conclude with a match between New Zealand and The Rest.
