Tea Still Favourite

Recent research by a New Zealand market research company shows that tea is still the favourite with all age groups at all times of the day, says “Teamen,” the magazine of the Tea Council of New Zealand. The figures show that 87 per cent of the population will drink tea at least once a day. Only 55 per cent will drink coffee.

The average person will drink just over three cups compared with two cups of coffee. Tea is three times more popular as an early morning and breakfast drink and even at night when the ratio betweeen the two is closest, almost twice as much tea is being drunk. Today’s “switched-on" set is still tuned to tea. Of people under 25, 73 per cent will

drink tea today. Only 53 per cent will drink coffee. In Auckland people are fonder of tea than in Wellington—BB per cent of Aucklanders drink tea each day,

compared with 85 per cent In the capital city. Between the sexes there is little difference, men and women preferring tea in like numbers.

Why does tea stay ahead with everybody?
