HAND FEEDING UNNECESSARY

A five-year-old Romney ewe on the Fernside property of the W. J. Morris Estate has reared quadruplet lambs without human help. One of 1000 ewes on the property, she lambed in midAugust, and although the lambs were small, they were healthy. This prompted Mr K. L Morris, manager of the farm.

to leave all four lambs with their mother, who has reared them successfully. No hand feeding was necessary. The mother came originally from the Chatham Islands and was among about 400 ewes bought in last season. Although displaying a good fleece in the photograph, taken this week, the ewe has since been shorn.
