PREPARATIONS FOR JUBILEE
Parnassus School To Celebrate
A meeting of householders was held in the Parnassus school recently to discuss the school’s fiftieth anniversary, which will be celebrated Easter week-end of 1968.
The programme decided upon for the week-end is as follows:
Saturday, 1.30 p.m.: Assembly and speeches, roll-call, photographs, afternoon tea, get together. Evening: Cocktail party and buffet dinner, fol lowed by a dance. Celebrations will conclude with a Church ser vice on Sunday afternoon.
A jubilee committee wa< formed with Mr A. Foster as chairman and Miss J. Harneist secretary.
A register of names of past pupils is to be circulated in the district in an endeavour to obtain addresses of former pupils, teachers and committee members.
Mr T. P. Shand, M.P., has been Invited to speak, and also Mr A. S. Murray, chairman of the Canterbury Board of Education. Block bookings at Cheviot and Waiau hotels and motels have been obtained. Mr M. Wilkinsor has offered to arrange a dis. play of photographs. A tree i’ to be planted in the schoo grounds by an early pupil, am a cake is to be cut by th' earliest former teacher present Any person wishing to attend or knowing of an old pupil wh> would be interested in attend ing the celebrations, could con tact the secretary, c/o of tlu Jubilee Committee.
