The day’s tally was 3391 ewes and lambs. The previous record of 3119 ewes and lambs was established two years ago at the Waipari Station on the east coast. The Whakatane shearers, led by Mr M. Anderson, handled 13-week-old lambs and full-bred Romney ewes with six months fleece.
