BAN ON WORK

The Balclutha freezing works of the Flnegand Freezing Company was yesterday declared black, said the general secretary of the Freezing Workers’ Association (Mr F. E. McNulty). He said that freezing workers in New Zealand were be ing advised not to accept em ployment The company had demanded

that workers would be engaged this season on conditions under which the killing rate would be increased from 3200 a day on each chain to 3500 a day, he said. Mr McNulty said that this was contrary to past practice and procedure at the Balclutha works. The company wa salso interfering with the bonus incentive payments in all other departments. The association was sup porting the Otago-Southland Freezing Workers Union in the dispute.
