SHEARING EVENT
Four Enter Final Four shearers yesterday qualified for the final of the Canterbury machineshearing title, to be decided at Canterbury Court this afternoon. They are G. Cartney (Ashburton), S. Ryan (Pleasant Point), M. McSkimming (Alexandra, and R. Gould (Pleasant Point). Cartney scored 89.35 points when the preliminaries were decided. Ryan scored 86. McSkimming 85.65, and Gould 84.7. R. Summerfield (Rangiora), with 84.25 points, was fifth in the preliminaries, and T. C. Teague (Sheffield) sixth, with 83.95. Each of the four flnallals will shear one trial sheep and five competition sheep this afternoon. The Timaru team won the Canterbury senior final of the Young Farmers’ Federation’s shearing and wool-handling competition. and the intermediate winners were from North Canterbury. Both teams will compete in the national finals at Masterton.
