Vegetable And Fruit Prices
A glut of leeks on Christchurch produce markets yesterday brought prices down to 20 cents to 60 cents a case. Broad beans sold at 11 a case and were also in heavy supply. Good suplies of green* peas were available from S2 to 94 a sugar bag, and there was a good demand for lettuces, the best of which sould at $1.50 a case. New potatoes were also in good supply, local grown selling at SI.BO a box and Oamaru shipments selling to s2.so a box. Glasshouse beans were available. green beans selling at $4.20 a box. butter beans to $3.60 a box. and stringless beans to $4.20 a box. Other prices supplied by the Christchurch Fruit and Vegetable Wohlesalers’ Association were:— Silver Beet.—2oc to 40c a case Pumpkins.—To $lO a sack. Cabbages.—2oc to 50c a case. Carrots.—To $2.50 a case. Cauliflowers.—Boc to $1.70 a case. Onions.—sl.so to $3 a bag. Parsnips.—To $1.30 a case. Potaotes.—s2.Bo to $3 a sugar bag. Spring Onions.—3oc to $1.30 a dozen bunches. Radishes.—4oc to 90c a dozen bunches. Parsley.—To 5c a bunch Celery.—To 60c a bag of six bunches. Spinach.—To $11.50 a case. Rhubarb.—To $1.20 a case. Grapefruit.—s 3 to $3.50 a case. Chinese Gooseberries.—To S 3 a case.
