Last Of Rallies Before Billy Graham’s Visit
Only spiritual dedication and strong commitments could determine the success of the Billy Graham crusade rallies in March, the Rev. R Hart, vice-chairman of th' 1 Auckland crusade committee, told persons attending a precrusade rally in Auckland. The rally, which was the
last of a series in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Dunedin, was relayed to Christchurch and Wellington. More than 200 persons attended in the Oxford Terrace Baptist Church. After a welcome by Mr C. Barrows, musical director of the crusade team, prayeis were led by the chairman of the Auckland prayer committee, Major K. Manson. Vocal and piano selections were presented by two other members of the team, Mr G. B. Shea and Mr T. Smith. The Rev. Dr W. Smyth, the director of crusade organisation and activities, described the 10-day rally held recently in Tokyo. Each day more than 15,000 persons had attended the rally and on the final day 36,000 had been pie sent, be said. Before the rally began, an opening musical and song service was lead by the Salvation Army Central Citadel Band. The chairman was the Rev. L. Jones, of St Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Cashel Street.
