Montgomery Coming

LONDON, Nov. 8. Field-Marshal Lord Montgomery, who is 80, will visit Wellington and Sydney next October for El Alamein reunions, “The Times” reported today. “You know, in the past 1 think we have tended to look inwards too much, to think that England is the only place,” Lord Montgomery is quoted as saying. “When I was in Scotland in September ... I came to the conclusion I must go to Australia and New Zealand. "If it hadn’t been for that 9th Australian Division we couldn’t have won that battle When it came to killing Germans, they were very good So were the New Zealanders, though they were a different type.”
New Clubhouse.—The West End (Auckland) Rowing Club will officially open its new clubhouse at Westhaven, estimated to be worth $90,000, on Saturday. The ceremony will be performed by the Minister of Marino (Mr Scott).
